This Week In Photos: It’s new year in China…and carnival week in Brazil

Chinese New Year is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. There are more than one million Chinese migrants in Africa; most of them will be celebrating the Lunar New Year.

There are also celebrations in Brazil whose relationship with Africa dates as far back as the slave trade era. Holding from February 5 – 10, the Brazilian Carnival features revellers donning beautiful costumes as they partake in parades.
