Sub-Saharan Africa’s first automated paint plant to be ready this year

Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)-listed company Berger Paints Nigeria Plc. says its plan to build the first automated paint manufacturing plant in sub-Saharan Africa is ongoing and the plant is scheduled for commissioning in 2016.

Managing Director of the company Peter Folikwe who took over leadership of the company last year said the new plant would revolutionise Berger Paints’ reproduction and distribution processes, while enhancing product quality and delivery.

As part of its strategy to enhance accessibility and visibility of its products, Berger Paints has also embarked on the outsourcing of all its depots, after which it plans to appoint franchisees in various locations in Nigeria where it does not have a presence.

“This strategic move serves to enhance the efficiency of the Company and improve its bottom line,” a statement by the company said.
